Ski Lease Program

St. Albans Nordic offers a lease program for people who wish to borrow ski equipment for the winter. At the moment, we only offer equipment on a seasonal basis. We do not offer daily or weekly rentals. However, if you are a newcomer, and would like to set up a ski lesson to try it out, we may have equipment available for just the day.

Why should I lease equipment?

Leasing is a great option for children and teenagers. The height, weight, and skill level of a skier are all very important when selecting the proper gear to have a good experience on cross country skis. Children and teenagers rapidly outgrow equipment, sometimes needing new gear every year. Leasing offers a much more affordable option. It also may be a good choice for an adult who just wants to try it out and doesn’t want to invest in purchasing a new setup.

What type of inventory do we have?

Our current inventory is mostly set up for teenagers who are racing with the high school team. The equipment is mid level to high level for both skate and classic technique. All the classic skis we currently have are waxable, meaning you need kick wax. This equipment will also fit many adults, but currently, we don’t have much to offer for adults over 160 lbs. That doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t accommodate you, so don’t be afraid to reach out if you’re interested.

Our inventory for kids 12 and younger is also limited, but if you’re interested we will try our best to accommodate you. The ski industry has been hit hard by supply chain disruptions, but there is stuff out there. We are willing to invest in new equipment to get kids on skis if we can.

Pricing

The following prices are a baseline. Higher grade equipment may be more expensive. Low level child gear may be slightly cheaper.

Skis – $50 per pair
Boots – $40 per pair
Poles – $10 per pair

Please note that less serious skiers can do both classic and skate technique with the same pair of boots, but all skiers should have separate skis and poles for classic and skate. Therefore, a full setup for both techniques runs around $160.

What if I want to buy gear to keep?

Our inventory is not for sale, although we may sell some older stuff when winter is over. If you are interested in purchasing gear, it is very important to get the right fit. DO NOT order something online unless you really know what you’re doing. Oftentimes, the sales people at the ski shops are not that knowledgable either, so having some knowledge going in will help you figure out if your salesperson is good or not. We strongly suggest you get in touch with us to learn about equipment before you purchase. Getting on the right equipment that suits your body and your needs is vital to enjoying the sport!
