Scheduling Updates (Subject to change, so check the day of):
Monday March 16th : No Practice
Wednesday March 18th : Unlikely
Upcoming extra event opportunities: Note that we do not necessarily provide coaching at these events, but it’s possible we may be there racing in the adult events. We will offer guidance if you are interested in attending any of them.
March 19-21st: World Cup Finals, Lake Placid, NY
This is an opportunity to watch the best skiers in the world at the final event of the World Cup ski season. Most of the Olympic skiers from around the world will be there. It will be an exciting atmosphere with lots of spectators cheering on the world’s best. The Friday race is individual time trial starts which won’t be as exciting but the Saturday and Sunday events should be fantastic.
Saturday April 4th: Cochran’s Nordic Cross at Cochran’s ski Area in Richmond, VT
This is a super fun event for kids. It is a mostly downhill race on nordic skis, with some fun obstacles. The adult course starts at the top and is pretty gnarly, but the kids course starts lower and is pretty tame. $25 Entry includes pancakes afterwards. Ben Ogden attends every year, so it’s a good chance to meet an Olympic medalist.
Program Description: This is a learn to ski program for 1st through 8th grade students. The focus will be on fun, while also teaching kids the skills to become better skiers. This is not a team that travels to compete against other teams. There are competitive opportunities available outside the normally scheduled practices, and we will offer some support of that for interested skiers, but competing is definitely not required to enroll in this program.
Initial Registration is risk free and a full information packet will be sent to you after registration.
Schedule: Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:30 pm. Grades 5 through 8 will definitely be both days. Wednesdays will be the primary day for younger skiers, where we will guarantee a structured practice. Younger skiers are always welcome to come on Mondays as well and ski with parents, but we can’t guarantee structured coaching. NOTE: Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from practice. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by a parent during practice.
Start Date: December 10th, 2025.
End Date: Early to mid-march
Location: location will fluctuate between Hard’ack and the Dickinson farm, which is located on the back side of St. Albans hill. Scheduling/locations will be posted on this page and also communicated through email.
Coaching: Brook Hodgeman will be the head coach of this program. He is a member of our board, and you can visit his profile in the “About Us” section of this website.
Fees: All participants will be required to become members of NENSA, the New England Nordic Ski Association. This is because they insure our programs and also to expose skiers to the wider world of nordic skiing. NENSA is a great organization and the central promoter of Nordic skiing in the region. Youth memberships are $30, and we can process your membership registration for you. This is the only fee required to participate in the program. As a member, you will receive weekly email updates about Nensa programming and access to signature events like the New England Bill Koch festival.
Payment: We will follow up with you about payment after you sign up. You can use the sign up form below and pay later.
Equipment: If you need equipment, we offer affordable leasing options. Costs vary depending on age and needs, but range between $80 and $170 for the season.
What if the weather is bad? In cases of extreme cold, ice storms, etc, practices may be cancelled. We will try our best to make the call the night before and let you know, but sometimes the winter weather throws surprises at us. We will still conduct practices if there is no snow to ski on. There are plenty of fun “dryland” activities that build skiing skills.
