We are offering a full season program for the 2024-2025 winter season.
Description: This is a learn to ski program for 1st through 8th grade students. The focus will be on fun, while also teaching kids the skills to become better skiers. This is not a team that travels to compete against other teams. There are competitive opportunities available outside the normally scheduled practices, and we will offer some support of that for interested students, but competing is definitely not required to enroll in this program.
Schedule: Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 pm. Children under the age of ten will only be on Tuesdays, although there may be some flexibility with that if a younger child wants to come both days. NOTE: Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from practice. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by a parent during practice.
Start Date: December 10th, 2024. There will likely be an informational meeting prior to that.
End Date: Early to mid-march
Location: location will fluctuate between Hard’ack and the Dickinson farm, which is located on the back side of St. Albans hill. Communication of scheduling locations will be through email.
Coaching: Brook Hodgeman will be the head coach of this program. He is a member of our board, and you can visit his profile in the “About Us” section of this website.
Fees: All participants will be required to become members of NENSA, the New England Nordic Ski Association. This is because they insure our programs and also to expose skiers to the wider world of nordic skiing. NENSA is a great organization and the central promoter of Nordic skiing in the region. Youth memberships are $25, and we can process your membership registration for you. This is the only fee required to participate in the program.
Payment: We will follow up with you about payment after you sign up. No payment is required to use the signup form below.
Equipment: If you need equipment, we offer affordable leasing options. Costs vary depending on age and needs, but range between $80 and $170 for the season.
What if the weather is bad? In cases of extreme cold, ice storms, etc, practices may be cancelled. We will try our best to make the call the night before and let you know, but sometimes the winter weather throws surprises at us. We will still conduct practices if there is no snow to ski on. There are plenty of fun “dryland” activities that build skiing skills.
